Our Design Approach
Design-Build Remodeling
At Stearns Design Build, our design approach starts and ends with you.
We call this approach Transitions.
We’ve developed a philosophy we call Transcendence, a way of designing spaces that not only function beautifully but also connect you more deeply to the rhythms of nature, your community, and the life you want to live.
More than just aesthetics or efficiency, this approach is grounded in biophilic design —a practice that reconnects people with nature through the intentional use of light, materials, space, and flow. Research shows that even small changes, such as bringing in more natural light, adding organic textures, or creating views of greenery, can reduce stress, boost focus, and support emotional well-being.
A remodel should do more than make your home look better; it should feel better.
We use design elements like:

Large operable windows to bring in daylight and breezes.

Natural materials like wood or stone for a grounding feel.

Outdoor transitions, such as screened porches or garden patios, extend living spaces into nature.

Thoughtful room flow guides daily routines with calm and clarity.

Community-oriented design that invites connection without sacrificing privacy.
We believe every remodel is personal. We listen deeply, learn how you live, and design a space that reflects your values, whether it’s through a welcoming kitchen for family meals, a porch that connects you to neighbors, or a sunlit nook that offers a quiet morning retreat.
